Asian Bodywork incorporates a comprehensive diagnosis from Chinese Medicine, aiming to treat the root cause of the issue rather than focusing primarily on the musculoskeletal axis. Depending on the client's presentation, we use every technique available to us during a therapy session, including moxibustion, gua sha, cupping, essential oils, and medicinal liniments. As a body worker and acupuncturist, Malvina usually combines manual work and acupuncture according to the patient needs.

TUI NA

Tui Na signifies the activity of "push pull". This modality, which is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is primarily utilised for medical objectives rather than relaxation, and helps to treat internal as well as physical disorders. In order to restore proper anatomical connections, Tui Na uses a range of hand techniques, including acupressure, rhythmic compression, passive or active stretching, and pushing and kneading, to relax muscles, organs, and bony structures. It is usually more intense than Shiatsu, and it is carried out with the patient fully clothed.

SHIATSU

Shiatsu is a type of Japanese bodywork that uses compressions with the hands, fingers, forearms, feet and other body parts, aiming to activate the body's energetic pathways. The Shiatsu therapist combines acupressure, compression and stretching techniques, traditionally on a mat on the floor, with the patient wearing loose clothing.

Shiatsu is characterised as being rhythmic and calming, ideal for internal imbalances and stress alleviation.
